
The Youth House for Cambodia-China Friendship (YHCCF), in collaboration with Cambodia Development Center (CD-Center) and Contemporary World Magazine, successfully convened the Contemporary World Cambodia (CWC) Dialogue 2026 under the theme “Contemporary Cambodia in a Changing Global Landscape” at The Many Centre Hall, Phnom Penh, with the participation of 171 representatives from government institutions, diplomatic missions, think tanks, universities, media organizations, development partners, and youth communities.
The event commenced with welcome remarks by H.E. Sok Piseth, Secretary General of YHCCF, and congratulatory remarks by H.E. Sokhan Darapy, Deputy Director of CD-Center, highlighting the importance of intellectual exchange, youth engagement, and Cambodia-China and regional cooperation amid growing global challenges and transformation.
Special remarks were delivered by Ms. Zhang Yiji, Counselor of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to Cambodia, who reaffirmed the strong Cambodia-China “iron-clad friendship” and emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation among academic institutions, think tanks, and youth communities.
The dialogue also featured a keynote address by H.E. Lv Xuejun, Director of Contemporary World Magazine of China, who highlighted the important role of the Contemporary World Cambodia Magazine in promoting people-to-people connectivity, academic cooperation, and international communication between Cambodia, China, ASEAN, and the wider international community.
In the opening remarks, H.E. Suos Yara, Chairman of the Commission on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Information of the National Assembly, emphasized the importance of youth leadership, regional cooperation, energy security, civilizational dialogue, and adherence to international law in addressing today’s global challenges. He also highly appreciated the role of the Youth House for Cambodia-China Friendship in strengthening mutual understanding and cooperation among youth, scholars, and institutions in the region.
The panel discussion featured H.E. Dr. Cheunboran Chanborey, H.E. Dr. Chheng Kimlong, and H.E. Sokhan Darapy, moderated by Mr. Puy Kea, President of Cambodia Journalists Club and Advisor to Contemporary World Cambodia. Discussions focused on Cambodia’s development trajectory, regional cooperation, geopolitical transformation, global conflicts, strategic resilience, youth engagement, and Cambodia-China and the region relations in an increasingly complex international environment.
During the closing remarks, H.E. Sok Soken, Minister of Inspection and Vice-Chairman of the YHCCF, highlighted Cambodia’s transformation from conflict to peace through the Win-Win Policy and reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to peace, regional cooperation, multilateralism, and sustainable development under the leadership of the Royal Government of Cambodia. H.E. Minister expressed high confidence that this dialogue will continue to grow as a solid foundation for promoting knowledge exchange, nurturing a spirit of shared responsibility, and strengthening the Cambodia-China friendship to be more enduring and fruitfully proud in the future.
Overall, the Contemporary World Cambodia Dialogue 2026 served as a meaningful platform for policy dialogue, intellectual exchange, and network-building among policymakers, scholars, diplomats, media professionals, and youth leaders.
